quick go and get some heat patches they are the biz, like giant plasters, they stay warm for 8 hours and are really very good. Make sure you get the ones you can stick to your skin, some say just to clothing which is useless

poor you

voltarol can help - think it is stronger than ibuprofen - can you get stronger pain killers - co -codamol? or wheat bag can help...

If you can, get a gp referral to physio. They can really really help. Also (as if you have the time!) pilates really helps bad backs.

no time for pilates atm (but is on my list). will ask for referral.

no voltarol here.

Can't you get an emergency appointment? Sounds absolutely horrendous. For pain added pain relief go with ibuprofen with co-codamol. They actually boost each other's painkilling effects. Hope you get it sorted soon, a week is too long if you are having so much pain.

its hard arrnagign thinsgw ith my dh and his heart machine. getting an emergency means taking the whole family down there and it so much hassle.

i have an hour later to take dd2 to nursery and am stoppingby the chemist to drop in a perscription, so will get the strongest over tht e counter stuff possible.

Poor you

No way can you wait till next week, especially as you have children to look after. Can't they bring the appointment forward for you? Sounds like you need some strong prescription painkillers like co-codamol.

Have you twisted or pulled something in your back? Sometimes the smallest thing can do it. I wrenched mine yesterday bending at the wrong angle to zip up ds's coat.

Is the pain going down your leg too?

pians are all over my back, shoulders, hips. arms, legs, hands.

its very cold out there and could feel myself stiffening up.

Oh sorry misdee you posted while I was writing mine.

I know..sometimes just getting to the appointment is littered with obstacles

If you combine solpadeine with neurofen you get a much stronger painkiller.
I am pretty immune to most so would hate to advise the dose I take Misdee but the pharmacist should help.

misdee i too am suffering at the moment but mine has been ongoing for a few years now.The last bout i had left me suffering with sciatica which is always there but last monday when i was going up the stairs i coughed and actually heard a noise like a crack. My husband came home from work as i couldnt hardly move and my doc was able to see me two hours later.i had a disc that had crumbled a few years back and thought the same thing had happened again to another one,Doc said it was " just a twinge * ( to him ) but have been in a lot of pain since but slowly getting better i have voltarol and take co-drydomol for the pain.If the pain is going down either leg and hurts in your buttocks when you sit ,it will be because the sciatic nerve has been been affected by your back.I know the awful nagging pain it causes so please phone your doc and ask for your appt sooner rather than later.hope you soon feel better.
