ovulation pain?

Does anyone else get really bad ovulation pain?
I've always had ovulation pain but it used to be a sharp very intense, doubling over like pain in my teens (for about 5 mins - I didn't know what it was back then) and then I was on the pill for over 10 years and then had 2 children and since then, every month, I get very bad lower back pain, stomach cramps and the last two months I've actually thrown up a couple of times. This lasts 2-3 days with one day always being the worst (usually just after ovulating - if I take the sharp pain on one side as symptomatic of ovulation).
I'm considering going to the doctors but I suspect I'll just get fobbed off and told to take pain medication (which I already to). Is there anything they can do or can this be a sign of anything more sinister going on? I'm done with children so not concerned about any fertility issues. I was considering going back on the pill to stop ovulation but I'm enjoying living an artificial hormone free life!

I would be asking the GP to refer you to a gynae, this is the type of problem outside their remit. Do not be fobbed off, seek answers.

Ovulation pain can sting but it should not be really painful. Bad lower back pain, stomach cramps and vomiting also are not normal with regards to menses and you should not have to put up with it.

I would be keeping a daily pain and symptom diary if you do not already do so as this would give the gynae clues.
