Vaginal prolapse?

Warning - may be TMI in this post. ? I've name changed.

I'm a bit worried that I have a vaginal prolapse. There is a soft, baggy bulge on the inside of my vagina, on the front wall, that I can push backwards but comes back again when I let go. It's not painful. I have no incontinence issues. Does that sound like a prolapse? I've never noticed it before, so why would it just have happened now? I have AF - can hormones affect your vagina in that way?

Background - I've never had a full term vaginal birth. DS (2) was an emergency CS, I got to 5 cm dilated. I also lost a baby at 21 weeks earlier this year, he was delivered vaginally but was tiny - he only measured 16 weeks. Sad

I am crap at doing my pelvic floor exercises, and also overweight. But we are planning on ttc again soon, and I'm now shitting myself. Does a prolapse have any implications if you conceive? I couldn't bear to go through what we did when we lost the baby. Should I go and see the GP, or wait and see if it disappears when AF is over?

Prolapses can be worse when you've got your period due to the hormones swimming around at the time. I know my prolapses did. By the sound of it if you have a prolapse it sounds like a cystocele, where your bladder pushes into the vaginal walls. You don't necessarily have any incontinence, I didn't even though I apparently had it fair worse than the rectal one that I originally saw my GP about.

WRT conceiving, it shouldn't matter at all. I started prolapsing after DS1 (big baby, fast delivery and hypermobility is not a good combination!) but didn't have surgery until after I had my last baby, so 6 years later. There's other things you can do in the meantime, your GP can refer you to physio to try and keep the prolapse from getting worse with following pregnancies. Try not to worry too much and see your GP.

I'm sorry for your loss Sad

Thanks. On checking again this morning, it's actually the back wall (apparently I can't tell front from back! Blush) so maybe rectum? Again, I have no constipation/bowel control issues. I will make a GP appointment. It's just not an easy thing to go in about, is it? That's reassuring to know that you had no issues with pregnancy or labour. I've just at a bit of a loss as to why it's happened! I never wanted a CS with DS, but one of the few advantages was that I always felt that at least my vagina was in one piece, unlike some of my friends who had bad tears, dozens of stitches etc.

Thank you. It was heartbreaking losing him. I'm nervous enough about TTC again without this added worry.
