Hi, well as the title says for the past 5 days or so I've had a horrible metal taste in my mouth and I'm wondering what's caused it, any ideas? I've just started my period, first proper one since stopping the pill, could it be with stopping the pill or maybe I'm just lacking a vitamin? Anyone had this before? Thanks for any info.x

Have you eaten any pine nuts recently? There is a phenomenon called pine mouth........ It's a bit grim, goes on for some time.

And some anti-biotics can do this. Metronidazole particularly.

Me too mintyy...and it's not unusual to have bleeding in pregnancy

Had an awful metallic taste when I was pregnant too....

Rainbowgeorge · 18/09/2014 21:13

It was my first symptom in both pregnancys. Is it a possibility?

Same thing happened to me. I was on period. Metallic taste. I was miscarrying. It went on for a few days. Is that a possibility?

Haven't had pine nuts, did have cashew nuts and some pumpkin seeds though. As for pregnancy me and hubby did get carried away one night a few days before I ovulated but he seriously doesn't have super sperm, takes months of proper trying for me to get pregnant, and now I've just started my period I doubt I could be pregnant anyway. It seems to be there all the time even after I've eaten.x

I'd be seriously considering peeing on a stick if I were you.

Linnielou5 · 18/09/2014 21:38

Really doubt it could be pregnancy builder mammy unless period doesn't get heavier or stops which doesn't look like it will tbh.x

The most common cause of this symptom is acid reflux. Try some antacids and dietary changes.

TheHouseatWhoCorner · 18/09/2014 21:52

I had this when pregnant.

Just letting you's know that I'm definitely not pregnant, have the worst period ever and the taste has almost gone so I'm reckoning it was down to my hormones with just coming off the pill!!!x
