Good luck mosschops! I gave up about 5 years ago, having been a fairly prolific smoker and quite reliant on the cigarettes for all sorts of reasons. I knew it was going to be an effort so I knew that I was only going to give up once and so I took the plunge and haven't looked back. What worked for me was taking it one step at a time - literally an hour at a time and then congratulating myself for doing so well and getting through the next hour and before you know it, it would be stupid to have a cigarette because it would negate all the effort you've made so far. Of course it's not quite as simple as that but you know what I mean! Best of luck - I wish you all the will power in the world - you CAN do it if you want it enough!

Good luck to you!
I gave up a year and a month ago. Tried a few times before, but knew this time would be different. I "missed" it, only in as much as I had a coffee, and thought there was something missing. But no real strong cravings. Get past the first few days, then remind yourself that if you have one you will feel really really crap. Mentally because you didn't succeed and physically because you will feel really light headed and awfully sick. It was the thought of feeling physically ill that stopped me having one.
Best of luck to you. It really is the best thing you can do.

How are you doing? I remember a friend saying that with stopping smoking, everything went in threes
3 days, 3 weeks and 3 months were all milestones with respect to losing the addiction. You've nearly done 3 days (I hope!) so well done you, and you should be feeling less clogged in the lungs. AFter 3 weeks you'll hopefully stop obsessing about it and after 3 months you should be free.

I know whether I'm a smoker or not (currently not, nearly 2 years now) when I can walk past the fag counter at the supermarket or garage without the fags calling out to me!

Good luck

Thanks everyone, I am now on day 2 (didnt happen monday after a row with dd). Seems fine in the daytime but its a night after dinner, before bed, that I am suffering.
I havent used the patches yet, am completely cold turkey, just taking it one day at a time.
