Hi

I am 47 and this summer I have got tired / forgetful, not managed the heat / had hot flushes, sleeping worse and needing to shower more often to stay fresh.

Could this be menopause? My periods are still regular and I still get ewcm so I assume I am still ovulating?

(do I need to speak to GP - can they test for it? if so, can they offer anything to help?)

have asked mother when she went through mp but she cant remember Hmm

The 'average' is about 51. Menopause is the day you stop having periods (worked out retrospectively, after a year without periods!) but 'perimenopause' can last up to 10years and this is the time when you have fluctuating hormones, ovulation that comes and goes etc. Then there is the post menopause, but I am not there yet!

Go and see your GP if you are having problems as there are things that can be done, especially if you have bleeding problems.

Look here www.menopausematters.co.uk/ where there is lots of up to date info.

47 for me as well, not early and not late.Think there's just a broad band of "normal". I went to the docs, but since I was not "suffering", he left me to get on with it. Which was fine. I would say if its difficult for you go, if not then embrace it. Just use condoms etc if you have sex.
