Anyone given up caffeine and how?

I think I drink too much coffee. I've always drunk a lot but managed to cut it down by mixing caff and decaff. But my consumption has crept up again.

I'm toying with giving it up entirely as I think I'm suffering - shaky, dark circles under eyes etc. I'm also about to embark on an IVF cycle and would ideally like to be caffeine free.

Anyone got any tips? Do I switch to decaff/try something else (I do like Rooibos). Is it all going to be hideous? Can be a grumpy cow at the best of times and am concerned about wild mood swings?

Any tips/personal experiences greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

went cold turkey. It took me 10 days. I think 3 days of really bad head-aches and then I got hip pain and uncontrollably shakey legs (not the whole time of course). Feels so much better when you're off it.

Otherwise have one cup in the morning. Next week 1 every second day, then 1 every third day etc. Maybe easing out works. I'm the type who needs a radical solution though so I've never tried this.

I went cold turkey aswell. As you like rooibos, I would just substitute that for whenever you had tea or coffee. Like the others, I had bad withdrawal headaches but once I was over that, it was plain sailing.

Only problem now is that if I have anything with caffeine in, I am so supersensitive, it keeps me awake all night!

I've been through it several times! Each time gone cold turkey, felt like sh!te for a few days, then much better. My consumption has always crept up again though, most recently have given up cos I'm pg and it was making me feel sick, felt much better without it.

I gave up caffeine at beginning of PG. It made me feel like shit - grumpy, shaky and awful headaches and lasted a couple of weeks.
Drinking decaff helped psychologically!
Good luck.

I used to have 7/8 cups of instant every day with sugar. decided was really bad so stopped for a couple of weeks when strong n determined, threw the instant away. then allowed myself cappacino in town. now i have only filter coffee at home made in 1 person plungy thing and can only have it if sit down when chores r done! its really worked cos it means i only have 2 coffees a day and as bonus i have 2 definite 'me' times in the day to relax with mag. also cleaning the bl**dy thing is such a bugger more than 2 is a pain! have also stopped the sugar so dead proud of myself
