Bloody toothache :-/

Urgh. Went to my last dentist with really nasty toothache a couple of months ago. He gave me an X-ray and all clear, he said just really sensitive tooth and to rub sensitive toothpaste into it, which worked for a while.

Now I've moved to a new area, and it's come back with a vengeance. Can I just ask for the sodding thing to be pulled? I can't be arsed with this, it's radiating down to my jaw and I can't just keep taking ibuprofen.

Any tips? I think it's driving me insane!

Are you sure it's toothache? I had raging toothache and went to dentist, like you told all clear but he said it could be inflamed sinus, showed me on x ray where nerve was next to sinus, I got some stuff from chemist and it cleared up

It's a bottom molar, so I think it probably is some kind of toothache. It's driving me crazy!

Oh you poor thing. Flowers

I don't see why you can't get it pulled and be done with it although a new dentist might have other solutions. Get to one asap!

In the meantime get to a pharmacist and ask for some orajel EXTRA STRENGTH gel (not the plain Orajel, the extra strength is worth finding) and some paracetamol and codeine tablets if you are able to take them. They're the strongest painkiller available over the counter.

As you can gather, I've been there and boy do I feel for you. Get well soon.

Get another x ray. My toothache /sensitive teethwith clear x rays turned out to be trigeminal neuralgia. Having a tooth out did nothing.

Also, ziggy, do the painkillers help at all? Is the pain coming at a particular time? Is it always in one place?

2kids what's that?
Also, it throbs in the morning... But painkillers do help. I just don't want to continue taking them. Thanks btw

It's a nerve condition that causes a lot of pain. It can run down the jaw line and feel like toothache. It even gave me super sensitive teeth in just one area, hence having a (previously damaged) tooth removed. I went on to have more pain and keep visiting the dentist to be told they weren't doing anything as my x ray was clear.

Normal painkillers don't do anything at all (I found after nights of swallowing paracetamol and ibuprofen like they were sweeties) so if they work for you then it's unlikely it's the same thing you are being troubled with.

Good luck getting some relief. x

To be honest I would give a dental guard a shot before getting it pulled in case you're teeth grinding in your sleep.
