olive oil on their head about an hour or so before bath time, then wash it off, then "comb out" the cradle cap - it's a bit icky but it does work!

olive oil on a bit of cotton wool and gently rub in circles!
do resist tho the temptation to shampoo out too much as this will increase problem
should take about 2 weeks
try not to use fine comb either as it pulls off the protective mantle (skin/scalp) an could leave it open to infection.
good luck!

all mine had it. put olive oil on some cotton wool, gently rub in and leave over night.wash hair next day and gently rub head dry with towl. repeat this for a few days and the cradle cap will slowly start to loosen and then you can pick it off (eeek) . keep using dentinox to stop it from coming back

How old is DD?? The Body Shops' Manuka shampoo is great for sensitive scalp, and clears up my DS in a couple of days. Not sure whether this is o.k. to use on babies?!?

You don't. You just leave it alone unless it's getting so thick that it bothers the child.

Best way we found to deal with it - when we had to - was to rub olive oil into the baby's scalp before supper, then in the bath comb the hair with a nitcomb to lift out the scales which have been loosened by the oil, and then wash with ordinary baby shampoo to get rid of the oil.

I did dd3 yesterday

rubbed a bit of olive oil on last night

this morning picked off all the crusts and as others have said, used a nit comb to get all the bits out of her dandelion clock hair.

then shampooed with t-gel shampoo

all gone!

Both my dc's had it and we used indian hair oil to massage the scalp but olive oil was also good, I wouldn't pick it or scratch it off with the comb though, it goes eventually. DD had it even when she had a head of thick hair but it has all gone now.

Oh you mustn't try to remove any crusts that are still attached to the scalp. Only pick at or use the comb for crusts that have been loosened off completely and are just tangled up in hair.

Used to rub vaseline on - leave overnight (a bit sticky!) and then use a muslin to wipe off the softened bits.

Wow thanks for the great response - looks like olive oil is the key!!
