I'd been due in and woke with slight period cramp. Toilet visit confirmed period. About 10 minutes later I had horrific pain in the, abdomen and top of legs. Staggered to the loo and had a bowel movement but normal stool. The pain was unbearable, like proper vice like spasms and I could not move off toilet. I went faint and was absolutely drenched in sweat. An ambulance came and I went to A&E. On a,scale of 1-10 with childbirth being my 10, this was a 9. Had blood tests, all came back ok except white cell which was high. Doctor said (he was lovely) because another test came back ok (I can't recall the name but he mentioned anything over 5 was abnormal and I was a 1??) he was happy for me to go home. The pain had subsided at this point so I'm home with the advice to return if it happens again. What the hell could it have been?? Definitely not pregnant or constipated, already had appendix out. I'm 44 so poss menopausal but sheesh, if this is/was "bad period pain" then I'm worried for next month Sad Have got Buscopan. Any ideas?

You're definitely not pregnant? Test confirmed?
If not, hmmm.
Twisted ovary? You'll know, as pain will return.
Twisted bowel? History of this area?
Infection a possibility, but from where?
If pain returns, you need full bloods, ultrasound, pregnancy test, possibly scheduled for MRI.
Best of luck.

Sorry, I fell asleep last night. Pain was there (as in excrutiatingly) for about an hour and ten minutes. Rest of day was a slight ache, almost like an aftermath after being in spasm? No, def not pregnant or constipated. I've had constipation before, this was a different type of pain. Twisted ovary, no idea! I've slept well again, going to get up soon and hope it's ok. Oh and my temp was normal yesterday
Thanks
Thanks for replies, I'll look up the other conditions.

No idea, I had this several times with periods before my first DC. Ended up in A&E overnight. Vomiting and severe pain for 8 hours straight with chills, but no temperature. They never found out why. Labour pains were much less intense. Heat and vibration helped. Hot water bottle on the front, sitting against a speaker playing bass heavy music, didgeridoo music particularly helped.

My sympathies it is crap.
