TMI ALERT! Smelly/sweaty knickers....what could it be?

Hi all

I have nc'd as I'm going on a mumsnet meet-up soon and this is a bit embarrassing!

Dd is 14 weeks old. After she was born I had the usual bleeding that cleared up by about 4 weeks. However, since then I have had yellowy (sometimes greeny) discharge. Both my discharge and my sweat down there smell quite sour and it's very different to how my discharge was before I was pregnant. I have had (and still have) the usual post pregnancy sweats. I smell more generally and get very hot and flustered - the weather doesn't help!

I went to my gp last week as I'm sure something isn't right. Even with liners I still have to knickers 3-4 times a day as they're so sweaty and smelly. He took swabs and tested me for thrush and BV (and possibly other things but they didn't say). I had almost constant thrush during my pregnancy so I thought it might be that, however the tests came back normal.

Has anyone experienced this before or do you know what it could be? Please help as it's making me really self conscious Sad.

Thanks in advance Thanks

could it be an STD?

No way! I was tested during pregnancy and DH and I (as far as I know!) have always been faithful.

my friend had some placenta left behind, not wanting to worry you? can you ask your GP to refer you back to obs and gynae?

I had a pph so they (literally!) yanked out my placenta! However, they looked it over and said that it was intact. Will bear that in mind though, thanks slarty

Even a tiny fragment of membrane can result in an infection so if you feel it's not right go back to your GP. You don't want a low grade long term infection within your pelvis. Have you had any antibiotics at all?

Thanks Matilda. No I haven't had any antibiotics.

The other thing I failed to mention in my OP was that I had a small perineal tear (unstitched) but also a second degree tear in my internal muscle that was stitched and healed badly. DH is worried that it might be infected there. The gp did have a look down there, albeit superficially, and said it looked fine at about 6 weeks post partum.
