just come back from my drs who did the 8 week check on my baby, all went well but i was surprised when she said that the foreskin should be pulled back at every bath time, she then proceeded to pull back my babys foreskin which looked very tight.
i have a ds who is 9 now and i was told when he was little not to touch his foreskin.
so whats right?

I was told to leave it well alone. Ring HV?

I was told to NEVER touch my ds' foreskin, I'd be surprised/shocked if my dr said this, maybe ask your hv or get a 2nd opinion, how did you ds react to this??

i am not that surprised she is wrong she is the same dr who told me that mastitus would infect my baby if i continued to breastfeed him- my midwife put me right on that one!

can't beleive she actually pulled my babys foreskin back, i knew it wrong just needed mumsnet opinions as it was a long time ago with my older ds.

crap effing dr im gonna find a better one!!

she hasn't damaged him has she??

I'd seriously have a word with the surgery, I wouldn't have thought the dr damaged him, how did he react? This dr seems to be doing a pants job and could potentially do some damage to other people and babies in her care. Have you spoken to your hv? Failing all that refuse to see this dr and if need be tell them why

Blimey what a crap doctor. Apart from anything else it denies them the pleasure of finding the end of their penis, as my three year old discovered all on his own the other day
He is delighted with his new discovery, like finding your favourite toy has a secret bit that makes it even better

"Forcing the foreskin back may harm the penis, causing pain, bleeding, possible scarring and adhesions."

That is terrible advice, esp as they have previously given crap advice before. Id make a formal complaint to the surgery!
Thats terrible !
