ive been wearing them for 6 years now and have started to have real problems with them since i became pregnant 2 years ago. My eyes seem very dry and become red when wearing them and i also seem to be suffering with headaches. Ive been told that i have a a viral infection but having not worn them for a a few mths ive still not been able to tolerate them. The optician keeps telling me to wean back into them gradually which i have done but but all the blood vessels in my eye statr to flare up and then i have to give them a rest for a wk or two brfore i begin again. Has anyone else experiened this before? Ive started taking vitamins, eating better and getting earliar nights to try and improve the health of my eyes. If i have a late night or have a few drinks my eyes are very red in the morning even when not wearing lenses.

Hi mum2sam - i had megga problems with my eyes when I was pregnant too. I ended up with both my eyes patched at one point which was no fun! I was so fed up with the faff of contact lenses - I had my eyes lasered. That was 10 yrs ago and still have 20/20 vision - no probs and its lovely not to worry bout specs or lenses. I wake up and can read my alarm clock and see the leaves on the trees - fantastic!

I find contact lenses much harder to tolerate since pregnancy, your post has made me realise that pregnancy was the cause! I never put two and two together before. Have you tried eye refreshing drops?

dry eyes during pregnancy is perfectly normal. i had to stop wearing them completely whilst pregnant.
do you HAVE to wear them?if so, try daily disposables, but start off wearing them only for special occasions. so stick with glasses during the day, but contacts when out for a coffee. iyswiim. slowly build up like that. to a max of 8ish hours a day.
also, use eyedrops when wearing them
