Hi. I have noticed over the last few months that my fingers are stiff when I am doing simple stuff like typing right now, ironing, using straightners. The worst is when I go to Tesco and u know the fruit n veg bags, well I can never open themm my fingers are Just so stiff.
Is there a test I can have that will detect arthritis, like a blood test or something. I don't have arthritic symptoms anywhere else.

I am not sure if this is anything to do with Colitis as I have been diagnosed with this. I don't have aches and pains anywhere else.

I am 35, is this too young for arthritis. My mum has it in her hands but she is older obviously and got it in her 50's.

It can be something to do with colitis - they are both autoimmune disorders

My mum has been diagnosed with Chrohns disease and has an element of joint pain with that.

Dr's don't always recognise that the two are linked

there is a link between colitis and arthritis -- I got RA after an attack of ulcerative colitis..

Get to your doctors as there is a lot they can do to help!

yes esr or sed rate test tests the amount of inflammation in your body

x-rays can determine how bones are affected

there are a number of useful devices that can be bought in many places for general household tasks (opening ring-pull cans .. opening jars etc)

DH was diagnosed with a pernicious form of arthritis at 27 .. unfortunately you're never too young .. I'm not saying you have arthritis you know .. only a gp can determine

good luck .. any questions .. just ask (I think I know virtually anything and everything about arthritis)
