I've lost 5 stone since xmas, now about 9 stone -

But my lips and gums are so sore, is it a vitamin thing??

Have cut out total carbs and sugar, is it that?

oopsadaisyme Sat 19-Apr-14 21:59:48

Meant to say, I'm now about 9 stone, not lost 9 stone -

Go to see your G.P.

sonlypuppyfat Sat 19-Apr-14 22:05:47

That's an awful lot of weight, check with your doctor I am in awe though.

cheekygeeky Sat 19-Apr-14 22:07:32

Tell us how you did it then?

Oh, and well done!

justmuddlingalong Sat 19-Apr-14 22:07:58

I agree with a check up at the docs. Can I ask how you managed to lose so much weight in so short a time?

MrsBennetsEldest Sat 19-Apr-14 22:11:34

I think losing that percentage of your body weight in that short space of time classes you as Anorexic. See your GP as soon as you can.

oopsadaisyme Sat 19-Apr-14 22:15:02

Honestly, my other half left, and stopped eating for a few weeks (not healthy at all I know) then just celery and hummus every few days -

Now just no carbs, and just not hungry lol, so just don't eat -

Wasn't really a diet, just a hard 4 months, and got fed up of getting called a fat cow by him -

Sure there's a book there somewhere lol -

MrsBennetsEldest Sat 19-Apr-14 22:17:21

Please see your GP, this is not a LOL. Situation. What have you eaten today?

justmuddlingalong Sat 19-Apr-14 22:18:40

Oh, I'm sorry. That's awful for you, but you really need to see someone. You'll fade away to nothing.

oopsadaisyme Sat 19-Apr-14 22:19:15

MrsB oh don't think I'm anorexic at all, just had a hard few months -

Doesn't make you hungry when you stressed out lol x

Just worried about my lips and gums, really sore! was worried bout vitamins??

scottishmummy Sat 19-Apr-14 22:20:15

No diet based on food group exclusion is healthy,or sustainable.
You need to maintain healthy diet and reintroduce food groups in correct proportions
If you're run down,see Gp

oopsadaisyme Sat 19-Apr-14 22:23:29

Its just my lips and gums - other than that skin and hair healthy and feeling okay, not tired or anything,

I do go days without food but drink green tea and lemon, run and exercise daily??

scottishmummy Sat 19-Apr-14 22:26:03

Look, you know that's not a balanced diet to exclude food or exist on green tea

MorrisZapp Sat 19-Apr-14 22:27:44

You know you need to see a doctor. Why not make an appointment?

Beastofburden Sat 19-Apr-14 22:30:01

It isn't just your lips and gums, it's just that's all you can see. Go to your gp, you may have tipped over into an eating disorder. I get that it is fun to show you r ex how slim you can get, but it stops being funny once you pay with your health.

OscarWinningActress Sat 19-Apr-14 22:30:02

Lemon is really acidic and can irritate your mouth, so possibly that but whatever you're doing doesn't sound healthy. You certainly shouldn't be able to maintain daily, dedicated exercise on celery and hummus...you need to fuel like an athlete! Go and have a chat with your GP ASAP flowers.

bellediva Sat 19-Apr-14 22:32:08

Yes probably vit c or b vits deficiency. Get to the GP because that fast weight loss can be dangerous. You need some blood tests pronto.

oopsadaisyme Sat 19-Apr-14 22:32:17

I'm not ill promise, but do know I lost alot of weight quickly, really appreciate concern, really kind x

Just was worried about gums and lips and wanted to know if I was missing a vitamin or something that could make better???

Beastofburden Sat 19-Apr-14 22:36:06

What bellediva said. Your GP can answer this, we can't, not without taking blood or having a look at you.

Check with the doc. I would guess at vitamin c or iron deficiency .... Your body needs vitamin c to absorb iron efficiently so both are linked. I'm not medically trained though and advise you to get advice and a check up with your doc.

scottishmummy Sat 19-Apr-14 22:38:25

Clearly you're not ok,it's not regular to have sore gums, lips.but you know that
Op by posting those symptoms, you clearly are worried?you should get it checked
Let's face it no one responsible is going to say,oh don't worry about it.

gamerchick Sat 19-Apr-14 22:41:11

you'll be running low on everything by now and you know it or you wouldn't have posted.

If your lips and gums are sore then the cracks in the corner of your mouth will appear soon. Your gums will start to bleed and recede and your teeth may drop out eventually if you don't address this.

GO to your GP and tell them what you've been doing and in the mean time get some meal replacement shakes in and have 3 a day.

oopsadaisyme Sat 19-Apr-14 22:41:53

Why can fast weight loss be dangerous?

I don't want to hurt myself or anything, just had a hard few months and wanted to be thinner -

Really not ill, and I'd eat if I was hungry honestly, just managing without and exercising makes me feel better!

Only posted because of lips and gums - totally understand the lemon thing now, makes sense, thanks for that x

FannyFifer Sat 19-Apr-14 22:42:29

Going days without eating is neither normal or healthy.

Go and speak to your GP, your gums may be the least of your worries.
