Polyp on cervix

Anyone had one? Went for my smear yesterday and the nurse exclaimed "oh! you have a polyp on there!" She said I can have it removed (quote "they just twist it off" ) or chose not too. Anyone else had this, and what did you do? Bit of history I've previously had treatment for abnormal cells so was on yearly smears, but now back to every 3 years as I'm negative for the HPV virus. After having had abnormalities previously I'm not that keen on extra bits and pieces growing on there (!) but also not so keen on going through treatment again if I don't have to.

I had a uterine polyp. I had it removed because I was trying to conceive. Mine caused bleeding between my periods. It's highly unlikely & I don't want to scar you, but they usually remove them so they can lab test them to ensue they are not cancerous. Just to double check. It was a very straight forward operation. Day surgery. About 20mins under general anaesthetic. Period type bleed after quite light. Back at work in couple of days.

Iv had a cervical polyp removed at the same time I had a coil fitted. It was ok, a bit crampy afterwards and bit of spotting. I watched it all on a screen too go for it I say, good luck

I had two polyps removed via hysteroscopy. It was uncomfortable and I felt a bit crampy afterwards but I was advised to take paracetomol and ibuprofen before it to help with any pain. The first polyp was benign, but the second one appeared a few months afterwards and got very big very quickly. That one was unfortunately cancerous and I have just undergone a hysterectomy. Please get it removed and checked. My consultant did say that they are only very rarely malignant, but it does happen.

I also had CINII on a smear test that resoved itself several years ago. The polyp was something different entirely though.

Hi I am going in for a hysteroscopy and polyp removal on Tuesday: not looking forward! How are you doing now LacksaDaisycall? Did you have symptoms? I am not sure if the risks associated with cervical polyps are the same as for uterine polyps, but I imagine they are easier to remove?
