Since having DD 19 months ago, my sex life has dramatically reduced, but recently whenever we do get the deed done, I end up with thrush for approx 5 days. This has happened the last 4/5 times over the space of about 3months- see really reduced!! anyway it puts me off doing it again as the after effects are not worth the shag! I'm sure BF hasn't played away, he doesn't have time to, but any suggestions why I keep getting it? Confused

Are you sure it's thrush? I thought I had recurrent thrush after sex, but it turned out I was allergic to latex condoms AND to some new knickers that had about 2% latex in with the cotton. My friend thought she had thrush, then that she might actually have become allergic to her husband, but it turned out to be an allergic dermatitis from something she washed with...

Did you treat your partner for thrush? He could have it and be re infecting you when you dtd.

I learnt this the hard way!! Male symptoms don't always present either.

I get it all the time too. I have it now actually. My husband is treated at the same time as me and we tried condoms too but didn't help. I get it without fail the week before my period and after sex 90% of the time.

GP is putting me on long term treatment again which is a tablet once a week.

If you didn't treat yourself and your
husband that would be why it keeps coming back. For me it makes no difference but you need to treat both of you and no sex during treatment.

Did you just use the cream?

If so you need the tablet or the one you insert into your vagina. I prefer the pessary because it is instant relief for me. If you have just used the cream then it might not be enough.

It can lie dormant and if it isn't fully treated it is very common for it to come back after sex.

I suffer badly, right now my fanny is on fire and looking forward to bed to use my pessary. Live yoghurt is also very refreshing for thrush, you can use your clean finger or quickly use a tampon to get it in there, but don't leave the tampon in.

Men rarely have symptoms. He can use the cream on his penis head. I think it is for two weeks twice a day but it will say on the tube.

Hopefully you will not be like me and this is easily treatable. I am sick and tired of having thrush. Sick and tired of knowing I will get it before my period and after sex.
