emergency dentist in Southern US - Jabberwocky?

My son just had his two front teeth knocked out, root and all (they're permanent teeth) and I'm having no luck finding an emergency dentist. If need be, I could drive up to Nashville, I suppose -- but anywhere in between Chattanooga and North Atlanta fine - even to Birmingham.

Must run, have friend's sister on phone who has told us to put them back in. Any help would be fab but no worries if not

Have you put the teeth into some milk? It helps to preserve them, and they could be saved. Will only work for a short time, but it may be enough until you get to a dentist

Get him to store them in his mouth (if he is old enough to be trusted not to swallow them other wise out them in a container and cover them with milk. If they are intact they should be able to be reinplanted into the sockets and a splint will be constructed to hold them in place whilst they "refix". The nerves can sometimes repair but often not so root canal treatment may be necessary in the future. He will need a soft diet for a while too. I am afraid I can't help you with locating a dentist out there though, but have my fingers crossed for you.

Thanks so much.

So sorry to not have posted earlier. We're on dial-up and it's the phone or the internet, but not both. Friend's sister (dentist from NW Indiana near Chicago, so not close enough to work on him) told us exactly what you guys did - wish I had posted before ringing around the rural South looking for a dentist open on Friday afternoon! Luckily I did find someone and he was great - did exactly what you said, ComeOVeneer.

He's on a mushy diet with no use of his front teeth for the foreseeable future (friend's sis said around 8 weeks?!?) and on antibiotics and serious painkillers now.

Thanks, thanks, thanks. Really appreciate the posts and advice and have settled down with a medicinal glass of wine.

Also - as I was just saying to my husband, thank you for answering the question I should have asked (what to do with two knocked out teeth) rather than the one I did ask. Both he and I really really wish I'd posted earlier in the situation.

Pleased to hear you got it sorted, fingers crossed he doesn't need further work on them. Hope you enjoyed the wine .
