Frozen Pelvis

I had a pelvic infection a few months ago, which turned out to be Group A Strep (diagnosed when I went for a laparoscopy for heavy and painful periods) and so was not picked up by my GP. I have no idea how it got there or how long it had been there and the Gynae and General surgeon who are looking after me are at a bit of a loss too.

The GS thinks it must have come from an abcess in my colon (although there were no bowel related symptoms at all), and I am going for a sigmoidoscopy in January.

This month I have had the return of some of my original symptoms and went to see my Gynae, who said she wanted to avoid surgery if possible as it would be very complicated and might involve removing part of the bowel due to the adhesions that are there (she showed me pictures of my insides, which was quite odd, but I can see what she means).

So it would appear that I have a chronic frozen pelvis, with some associated pain and discomfort, and I wondered if there was anyone else who had had this and what happened, and how was it managed?

I'm off the computer for a while (cooking and Strictly final), but would be grateful to hear anyone else's experiences and outcomes, whether good or bad.

Thanks in advance

Hi, didn't want to read and run. I'm not sure of the answer, but had something similar and ended up having IV antibiotics in hospital. I found the website Healthunlocked helpful, they have a forum for "Pelvic Pain" wonder if might be helpful for you too as it is quite specific. Good luck and hope you get better, at least they have found it which is helpful.
