no nore more information. was just chatting with Peter. I am going to assume they wont remove his. i dont even know how far in the future they are talking of. it may not be for years, but i have seen peter return from the brink because of a VAD, you only need to compare his pictures from last summer to now to see the difference.

Aw Misdee, I have followed your story and read about Peter in the paper, recognising him from a photo you showed on here. Can you tell me what VAD is or LVAD? Sorry for the ignorance. Just last night we were discussing donor cards, it seems a shame to be wishing someone dead so Peter can live, but I hope he hears news soon xxx

i told him to trust me, i know more than some doctors.

VAD= Ventricular Assist Device. they can be LVAD=(left ventricular assist device helps the left side ofthe heart) RVAD (Rigth side of the heart) and Bi-VAds which support both sides of the heart. they considered putting peter on a Bi-vad when he went for his op as his kidneys and liver were failing, but he only needed the LVAD.

knowing that someone has to die to save Peter is so so hard, and it totally destroys you if you think of it too much. each call we have had i have said a prayer thanking the donor family for giving us a chance.

Is this National Donor week? Maybe it was last week. It was in the news a lot which led to the discussion myself and my husband had. There was a 12 yr old girl who had received organs from a donor family and she was being interviewed saying she was so thankful for a second chance. The mum kept in touch with the parents of the child who passed away and they seemed close. The parent of the little girl who died encouraged everyone to sign a donor card and let a little bit of their loved one live on and save a life, it was so sad

My aunt is on dialysis at the minute waiting for a new Kidney and that's not as serious as Peter but still tough on her family so I cannot imagine what you are going through, especially when you have the girls to cope with too. Hope it happens soon x

how can they withdraw funding? surely this is a pretty vital piece of equipment for someone in Peter's position...and i would have thought once its bought its the property of the hospital and would need no further funding? or am i just being a bit dim.

as for Peter getting a new heart,....they need to find one pretty special to replace the very special one he already has!

i dont knoe FM, maybe they wont fund any new ones?

CW, national transplant week was last week. it has taken a lot oout of me. i had so many people saying 'ph but someone has to die so peter can live' yes i know. but i dont want peter to die as well. if someone out there can give a big gift of life after their death by donating their organs, then so many dont have to die (around 450people a year die waiting for a transplant)
