My dd had measles recently. The rash started off as small, individual spots but quickly became more blotchy and the spots less easily defined - they all seemed to merge together. She also had a slight fever, a dry cough, red eyes and a runny nose. The other thing you can look for is little white spots inside your ds' mouth.

My GP said that most rashes that look like measles aren't actually measles; there are dozens of illnesses that can cause similar spots, and usually there's no identifiable cause. But if he has the white spots in his mouth then it's definitely measles.

Hope the GP can put your mind at rest, and that your ds feels better soon.

Yes, I think it is.

Google 'measles rash' and you will get some descriptions and symptoms - and some photos.

Can you call your Dr before you go and tell them you think it might be measles? Someonme took a child with C'pox recently, and they fast-track you thourgh to avoid you sitting in the waiting room and spreading it!

hi found out d dhas measles today, her spots are tiny pin prick ones at the moment, but she only developed the rash today so they could still change to blotchy ones, can you go to the doctors now esp as you are not immune? or call nhs direct,

Are the spots deep red/purpley? Can you do the glass test now, just to be on safe side? (Roll glass onto rash and if it 'disappears' under pressure, it's nothing too serious.

Thumbs...that was not what I wanted to hear!! The more I look at it the more little spots there seem to be!! Spoke to my midwife who said that because I was so close to delivery there is nothing they could do to stop me or db getting it!!!! I am hopeing that it may be heatrash!!!! but his other symptoms are runny nose, cough, diahorrea, very sleepy and slight conjunctivitous eyes!! Poor little mite he does look soory for himself!!

measles usually is a REALLY high temp, but it does sound a lot like my dd when she ahd it
She slept for a week

I hope it turns out not to be measles. My DS had roseola which is a virus with a very fine rash and a temperature - but as Piffle said, measles usually brings a very high temp.

I hope he's all better soon and good luck with your baby!

hope doctors can tell you what it is

ds was covered in a pin prick red rash all over his body (also started on his torso and arms). We only saw the doctor at a later stage for something else but turns out it was probably a version of slapped cheek (which can have a lacy red rash but for some reason, can look like a pin prick rash aswell)

hope it isn't measles for both your sakes!
