Just a bit of info for everyone with SPD! YOU NEED TO FIGHT FOR THE CORRECT TREATMENT AS SOON AS YOU ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. As I have now been informed I have the more serious condition of Diastasis Symphysis Pubis where the bone separates. Nine and a half months after having my DS1 I have just been to see a pain specialist who did an xray (a little too late in the day) and I actually now have wear and tear along the bones that separated. I was in a wheelchair after pregnancy and kept asking for scans and xrays, then they sent me to physio without doing an xray!!!!
I am just so angry and something needs to be done to safeguard future patients, there should be some form of standard practice for women with SPD or DSP.
I have now had injections for pain relief, which aren't really helping yet, think I need more in different places around the area!
Even though you are pregnant you can have an ultrasound of the area just to ensure the bones haven't separated, I have done some research an read an article about Epidural Anaesthesia during pregnancy to help with the pain, ask for a scan after your baby is born before you go ahead with any form of physio.
What is so annoying everytime I spoke to my physio I said I was stil lgetting pain on doing exercises, all she said was "You should'nt be getting pain" and left it at that!!!!

Is your pain constant Loopy or only when you've excercised?
I'm 9 months on and still have crippling pain for a day or two after excercise but most of the time I'm ok... still just hoping this is SPD getting better rather than a potentially chronic situation.

Doesn't sound like my pain is in any way as acute as yours - hope your treatment helps very very soon x

Hiya Loopy
Nine months after my dd was born, Im still seriously suffering with spd, as well as extrem muscle loss due to not moving late in preg.
Im having acupunture, have you tried it?

Not tried accupuncture yet - might be worth a shot!

My pain is mainly on moving! GOt up this morning and I heard and felt it crack 3 times with a sharp pain - I could do with some scaffolding LOL!!! I am just so worried about work and whether they will take me back - as there are aspects of the job I could no longer do! Saying that it takes me all my time to look after my DS with help from the family!

So any spare time I get at the moment goes on doing paintings, at least I can sit down and do that, and it's a bit of a release for me, and helps me forget my problems!
