Oh wise mumsnetters, what could this be?

I suddenly have a dodgy ankle (well, for the last two weeks). I haven't gone over on it or bashed it in any noticeable way but it is weirdly painful. When I walk it clicks - as if the bone is popping out then then back into position, resulting in a shooting pain. I limp along for a couple of steps then the pain will have eased off to walk normally. Then it will be fine for a few more steps and will pop again and the cycle repeats again and again. Sometimes it will be fine for 15 minutes or more then it comes back. While not walking I have a low level dull pain - easily ignored but definitely there.

Any ideas?

Hmm bursitis sounds interesting. I wish it would calm down though.
