do I need to go to a doctor?

I am pretty rubbish at judging when to visit the GP. Today I have woken up with a very swollen eye. Not quite swollen shut, but not far off.

I was just going to leave it, but DH says I should not mess around and just go to the doctor.

It's not sticky or painful, but it hasn't gone down since I woke up at 6 this morning (thanks DS!).

I do have rotten hay fever, but it is more swollen than puffy iyswim.

TIA

For some reason, my hayfever has given me really swollen eyes this year. Try using some allergy eye drops before going to the gp if it doesn't go down

I would say though if it was hayfever related you might be more likely to have both eyes affected.

I would take antihistamine and try and get it seen tomorrow if it hasn't settled.

Hope it's better soon.

Thanks - am taking antihistamines, eye drops and various other things to try to get me through the summer! Wretched hay fever Smile

Have you been scratching your itchy eyes? It's easy to irritate them (I do it a lot). If so it should settle quite quickly. I find pharmacists give good advice on this kind of thing...

Same happened to me last year. My mum is an eye nurse so called her for advice - she said if the eye itself was fine it would go down in a day. And it did!

I would get it checked out if anti histamine drops didn't bring it down .
