Hairy legs - suggestions on defuzzing

Don't laugh - but what is the best way of de-fuzzing ones hairy legs. Last year I tried waxing (well if you can give birth you can cope with the pain), lovely legs but when the hairs started growing back it was under the skin causing itchy bumps. So ladies what's the best method ??

I stick with the old razor, saves time as I can do it at the same time as showering. Used to do the Immac thing, but that was pre kids, even then it took too long and it was messy.

helenmc, have a look at the thread called Captain Corelli & Hairy Armpits, you might get some pointers there and it's an hilarious read!

Got to be the good old razor - quick easy and painless Gillette venus is great to use

Lill, the venus is great isn't it? You hardly know you're using it. The only down side is the cost of the blades but then they do last a long time.

I was having this very discussion with a mate the other day. We decided shaving was the quickest and easiest way for legs and pits. It's not so good in the bikini line department as it does go a bit spotty looking, but what do you do if you're a regular swimmer and have to grow the little devils long enough to wax? Reminds me of that sketch on 'Smack The Pony'. I did buy an Epilady a while ago, I used it once, but never again as it was AGONY!!!!!!!!

My dhs mach 3 ( gillette? ) razor is the best I have ever used.
Tupperware? I went to a party once, was totally shocked at the prices and bought nothing and did not feel embarrassed...

Thanks Jodee & Bloss for the Captain Corelli tip - also solved the day-glo white legs problem as well. We went to the beach today-had a brilliant time and I didn't haveto show off my legs!!!

I want one of those electronic tweezer hair removing machine thingees - anyone used one? Is this just a pipe dream?! Just about to go away for 10 days to Florida and had a look at me winter legs, and decided that the yeti ski boot look may not be quite the fashion statement there that it is here!! Out with the Nair I think.

I still wax, whether I do it or pop off to the salon (how like a ladeee who lunches do I sound). Tea Tree Cream immediately after waxing, generally helps those in growing hairs, however, I know that it does not work for everyone. Word of warning NEVER NEVER do your own bikini line with wax, I did, and despite the fact that there are not enough hands to stretch the skin to avoid the briusing, it became inreasingly more painfull the further into the undergrowth that I went. I was a little worse for wear - Mr Gordon - AGAIN, I got myself into a terrible state and had to wait for my ds to come home from work, and as he was on an overnight well .. he had to pull off the strip, by this time the wax had gone cold, I was sober and the bruising that I had caused spread 6 inches down my legs!. CAR CRASH .... but apart from that I still use wax (?)

I'll vote for the Venus, as it's the only one that doesn't leave horrid nicks all over my legs. Tried the epilady thing & it was agony - gave it away.
Oh, I read somewhere that all the models shave, as they can't afford their hair to grow long enough for waxing. If its good enough for them its good enough for me!

Jodee-I went to hunstanton and wore 2 pairs of trousers, and used the towel as a scarf .... and we still had a brilliant time!!!

I like the epilady - no it's not quick, but it's not that painful, after several years of use the hairs really do seem to be getting less vigourous and if I miss doing it at least the hair growth is soft. Much better for me that all the blood letting shaving involved or the rashes from waxing.

I waxed my upper lip today!! Finally!!! ive been waiting for this 4 weeks!! The first time i shaved my upper lip ... and i barely had any hair on it...
Anyway i want to ask if anyone knows when the redness from waxing disappears ? I have a party to go to in a few days!! I am not going to show up with a red touche!!!
I have a tip for anyone planning to use hardwax...DON'T!! it barey removes any hairs, and I had to go over the same area of skin more than 3 times to remove the hairs completly!! (would that cause bruising ?)
I have another tip for those who shave with the venus razor. It causes irritation if u have sensitive skin... for those with sensitive skin use dove body wash, it really works well and does'nt cause irritation

ooh ooh I've got a great tip - shave your legs using hair conditioner instead of shave foam, I didn't know about this until recently and it is BRILLIANT.

dollhouse - you are always better off going to a salon to have that sort of thing done. It costs about £5 and they have all of the good after care creams etc.
You usually get some redness with waxing (that disappears that day, with help from frozen peas) but in your case it may take a few days as you have gone over it so many times. Have you got a good concealer?
