Damaged/sore coccyx - should I get it checked?

Thank you, I will make an appointment today with the GP just to get it checked out. I might also invest in a proper coccyx cushion as the towel ring is certainly helping. Fingers crossed it heals quickly.

Yes go to GP or else go wherever they will x-ray it for you. You new to know if any of the tailbone has been fractured or broken. I slipped on ice a few months ago and it was very painful. Getting up and sitting down was the worst because of the way you use your coccyx to do this. You need ice and ibuprofen and rest initially, as well as a proper check over. Recovery is slow I'm afraid, can seem to take forever but you'll get there if you give yourself a chance to heal properly. Good luck.

Hi,

Yes get it checked, I damaged mine 7 years ago by falling down the stairs. I then damaged it again giving it to my daughter 4 years ago, and had quite a bit of physio on it. There is little they can do, but they can advise on medication, give you advice, a drs note etc. have you tried an ice pack on it? Also roll up a thick towel into a circle like a rubber ring and sit on that so not all the pressure is on your coccyx when sitting.

It is absolute agony. When I did mine I couldn't move for 2 days and crawled everywhere!

Good luck and hope you feel better soon.

I fell down the stairs yesterday, landing badly and I assume I've damaged by coccyx.

I can't walk without pain, and even then it's baby steps, I can't bend, lie on my back, sit down properly and it's constantly sore. It feels 'wrong' inside, if that makes any sense.

I can't wok tomorrow. Absolutely no way I could get on the tube, let alone sit down for 8 hours (office job) and was considering working from home for the rest of the week so I can lie down.

Is there anything I can do? Should I see a GP just to be sure? I know that it can't physically be sorted so not sure if it's worth it. We're ttc and so I can't take anything more than paracetamol and its agony. Any advice??
