Yes just explain about always feeling cold, aching all over, etc and say you would like a full thyroid panel doing to rule out organic causes of your depressive symptoms. Beware that what is often reported as a normal result may actually not be normal and may be grounds for treatment in other countries (e.g. US). So, ask for your full results printed out and post htem on here - someone more knowledgeable about thyroid issues can then give you some proper advice.

You've been on the antidepressants now for 5 months - if they were going to work they would have worked by now definitely.

Mood swings, exhaustion: girl, you need a thyroid function test, especially if you've had any of the following: weight gain; dry skin; loss of outer third of your eyebrows; fatigue; permanently feeling cold; hair loss/ thinning hair.

You could also get your Vit D done as well but it sounds like classic hypothyroidism to me.

Before they bunged you on the prozac, did they give you any blood tests, e.g., for low thyroid function, anaemia, etc? What was the problem, was it just regular depression?

Sorry you feeling crap sad

Just noticed your sentence about the language barrier. I take it that it is you that doesn't feel confident in technical English. Find a native English speaker you can trust with your private affairs and ask them to come with you. I am a native English speaker and I have seen a couple of specialists lately and I have taken my daughter with me, not because of any language problems, but merely to make sure I don't miss any important points. There is no problem with this. You can even take notes if you wish and ask questions about anything you do not understand. Doctors are very busy, of course, and often assume patients understand what they are saying when they don't, so don't be afraid to ask for a simpler explanation.

If your current GP is not taking you seriously, change your GP until you find a sympathetic one. It could make all the difference to your whole life.

What time of day do you take the Prozac?

steppyhen Wed 06-Mar-13 12:39:35

Hi! Need some advice , doctors not taking me serious at all. Bit of back ground on Prozac 20mg a day been on it since Oct. I am so so tired and irratable I go to bed at ten and am up at half seven. I sleep in my lunch break I eat healthly , try to get out as much as I can, and drink lots of water.
Been to doctors as its really getting me down that I constantly feel shit they weren't very helpful and tbh I didn't understood a word the doctor said to me because of the language barier.
Anyways the past two weeks at work, i have been having issues with my eyes i seem to phase out and it feels like my eyes are rolling and im about to go to sleep ? Has anyone else had these ?
Anyone?
