GP can't prescribe it apparently because the pharmacies don't even stock it for prescriptions it appears (unless they are lying).

It it some essential ingredient in amateur bombs or something?

I used to be prescribed that for spots about 25 years ago! I remember it ruining several pillowcases and duvet covers as it used to leave bleached out splodges everywhere

Has it been withdrawn then?

I use duac once daily which contains 5% benzoyl peroxide. It's on prescription from the doctors. I last got it in Jan, so I don't know if it's been stopped since then.

I've been unable to get Panoxyl Aquagel 5 (or any of the other Panoxyls), through Amazon I found Brevoxyl 4%. It's like the gream formulation of Panoxyl, I think it's even by the same manufacturer (Stiefel?) and it works (even at 1% down)

Quick check on boots.com suggests that they all need a prescription, even panoxyl which I used to get over the counter

I always used the 10% stuff, but it stopped working so I went to the doctors who prescribed the duac once daily. It works so much better, and unless i've got better at using it, it doesn't bleach my clothes, towels and bedsheets!

Woops....

Basically the manufacturer has stopped making it

Bastards.... It was the only thing that worked.

Don't know why but benzoyl peroxide is currently unavailable. Your gp can prescribe duac instead - its benzoyl peroxide plus an antibiotic.

Just ordered Quinoderm from amazon but it said I might get an email requesting additional information. Hope they cough up the goods!
I might be back asking for the details of the Malaysian stuff.

Whoop! The Quinoderm arrived with no questions asked. It was £7, so a bit more expensive than Panoxyl Aquagel. Has the Malaysian stuff arrived?

I was trying to get this for dd with a prescription from our doc, about 4 weeks ago. The local chemist rang round all the pharmacies within a 20 mile area, to no avail. We bought something over the counter, but can't remember what.

Will keep an eye on this yhread for when dd runs out again. Duac. Must remember that!

Lauren, what size is your Quinoderm cream? I know that I can go to Boots and get a small tube of it here in NI.
