Or those nasty Metronidazole which is known to cause problems. Which dentists love to prescribe - have personal experience so now on my Allergy List and refuse to take them again.

Am also thinking it could be linked to the antibiotics. Esp if he's on erythromiacin (sp).

It could be connected to the antibiotics which may have brought on a minor bout of IBS. ABs work by killing bacteria (obviously!) but they can't tell the difference between the good sort and the bad sort - so when the good ones that live in the gut are killed we can get tummy aches and stuff like that. Get him some pro-biotic yoghurts with "friendly" bacteria - they can help if it's that.

If the pain isn't getting progressively worse, he's eating OK, not puking or suffering from the runs it probably isn't anything to worry about. Abdominal pain can be quite severe even when there's nothing sinister going on.

So usually healthy DH has been feeling generally unwell for about 10 days, had a gum infection (wisdom tooth needs to come out) and given antibiotics by the dentist.
Sunday evening he announces he thinks he has appendicitis as a very sore tummy, lower right hand side. It made sense to me with the feeling of generally feeling crap (but eating as usual, not acting ill iykwim)
Bowel movements normal, no vomiting or nausea.
He saw the doctor on Monday who said not appendix, (pain too low and he pressed the appendix and dh didn't leap in pain) probably a hernia.
He had an ultrasound weds night, appendix looks normal sized and no sign of a hernia.

What can it be?? Dh back at the doctor now and due to fly to US on Sunday. I'm worried cos he's worried... He says it's not muscle or nerve pain (he's an ex rower and has had sciatica so knows what all that feels like)

I await your diagnoses!
