Breast tenderness before period

I have noticed, after having 2 DC's that I am a lot more hormonal than I used to be. The latest symptom is terrible breast tenderness which is happening every month now. I'm not just getting it a day or 2 before my period is due but almost the day after I ovulate, my breasts start to get tender then 2 days later they are unbearable. My period isn't due for about 10 days. That's 10 days of that heavy, sore feeling. Even lying on my front at night is uncomfortable and affecting my sleep and I can't imagine leaping about doing some exercise! Then as soon as my period starts it's gone - as if by magic!

I've tried the pill again but it was hideous - I lasted a packet.

I'm 40 btw and only remember feeling like this was I was 17!

Does anyone else have this and take any vitamins etc to help?

Hi
I suffered from this too. I went to the doctor and got checked out to make sure it was nothing serious, and then went to Holland and barrett where you can find Evening primrose oil tablets 1000mg. I take 1 every other day and find that it really makes a difference, and I really notice the difference if I don't take them. Even the doctor agreed that it had be proven to be helpful. If you watch out too you can get them in special offers so they are a lot cheaper.

I also was getting a lot of pain but more so in one breast from around ovulation until a few days into my period, I couldn't feel anything there so put it down to hormones. It continued and after a while I went for a scan where they found a very small cyst, not big enough to feel but it was causing the pain when my breasts naturally went through hormone changes each month - so something to think about, maybe speak to your GP
Along with EPO other vitamins that can be of huge help with the soreness are Pyridoxine (vit B6) and Thiamine (Vit B1)

mmm.. I have noticed the same - mine are very 'heavy' feeling for about a week prior to starting my period. When I take my bra off for bed I have to brace myself - and they aren't even big boobs!

I donn't recall it being so bad when I was younger (I am 44 now), so putting it down to approaching menopause maybe??

if youare concerned though I would go and have a chat with GP just to make sure.
