Bloating & stomach discomfort

Hi I have had bloating at night on & off for months now, usually gets progressively worse after evening meal & very windy too Blush I have had an incredibly stressful few weeks & it is getting worse, now every night & discomfort on & off during the day too. I have put weight on & live in jeans so they are not the most comfortable - not sure if this is adding to the problem. Drinking peppermint tea seems to ease the symptoms at night & I take a probiotic. Is there anything else I could try? TIA

it could be food intolerances, it could be IBS, or it could be candida.

Has anything different happened recently? you say you are having a lot of stress that doesn't help either. is it worse near your period? When is it better?

Try to keep a diary of what you eat, when you eat it, how you feel afterwards , and your emotions and stress levels

Have you been on antibiotics recently - i had 2 doeses and really struggled with similar symptoms for almost 6 months or more.

I bought acidopholous pills the strongest i could find, took garlic capsules and tried to avoid bread, wheat, yeasty foods, sugar and flavouring and preservatives - i ate as natural and unprocessed a diet as i could - now i'm back to what is fairly normal for me.

Thanks for your reply. I struggled with recurrent chest infections last year so had 12 courses of antibiotics last year & 6 courses of steroids. The most recent was 3 courses of anti b's & 2 steroids late dec/early jan so that probably hasn't helped. The symptoms seem to be worse mid cycle. just before my period & during it & a few days after I am much better. I do eat a lot of rubbish at the moment. Not much bread but lots of sugar, I am trying to cut out a lot of that now. The previous 2 weeks have been really stressful but this week much calmer but my symptoms are worse so not sure if its payback from the stress & also I am mid cycle now too. Thanks for your suggestions I will keep a diary.

hi roundabout1 it does sound like its related to too many antibios - they can kill off the good bacteria in your gut.
The other thing i did was to take a caneston pill - it comes as a single dose pill.
