can't seem to get out from under it

The title says it all really - we just can't seem to get out from under this onslaught of bugs & viruses. Sad

Easter break started with dd being sick - threw up all over my downstairs bathroom. 3 days later she hadn't been sick again but was still burning up with fever and complaining of a sore throat. Dr gave her ABs for tonsillitis. Next day DS & I come down with cold from hell - coughing, sneezing, aching head, aching muscles, shivering one minute, sweating the next. DH makes fun of me. By the next day DD is starting to improve but now DH is sick (hah - serves him right!). This was Wednesday. By Saturday there is no improvement in the situation - me, DS & DH all still feel like we are dying. Meanwhile DD is better and bouncing off the walls because I'm too sick to take her anywhere. Sunday we all force ourselves out into the fresh air and begin to think we may live after all. By Monday I can see the light! And by yesterday I actually felt pretty good - hurrah!!! Even DS was his old self again yesterday.

So today I wake up, DS is miserable again, I'm choked up again & to top it all off my throat is sore. I can't take this anymore. The kids are fed up, I'm fed up and DH and I are supposed to be having a nice romantic weekend away. I don't know what to do anymore, if I have to spend another week cooped up in the house with the kids I'm going to go crazy. Why can't we just be healthy?????

Sad

it's been a rotten winter for viruses, bugs etc - I know loads of people who've spent ages fighting stuff off, then getting ill again. We've had our fair share too!

On the colds/sore throat front, I've found that by taking vitamin c & zinc tablets, together with echinacea (I use drops) as soon as I feel something starting, it seems to have really helped and headed the bug off after 24 hours or so.

Hope you all feel better soon Smile

For you , I reccommend. 100mg of vitamin C per day, garlic capsules ecchinasia and Zinc.
For the wee ones a build up vitamin lid minidex and some probiotic yogurt.
I took the vit c and garlic and my cold shifted after just a day!

just started on the vitamin c again - bought some 500mg chewables yesterday. I usually take it through the winter or whenever the kids get sick but stupidly when I'm not feeling well I tend to forget!

I know echinacea is supposed to be good but I just can't stomach it - every brand I've tried is vile. Besides, that's why DH was making fun of me in the first place - he takes echinacea religiously and swore that was why I was sick and he wasn't. Until he got sick too! He then swore he would be over it in 24 hours. A week later later he's still coughing.
