Its such a horrible condition. How scary for her to not be able to breath. Thankfully they have given her morphine now because she was so distressed. She was fine last week, how can it be so bad so fast?

Don't know why Im posting really. Just sat here waiting for news from DH, and its a bit lonely on my own.

Sorry to hear this.

It IS a horrible condition agree.

Has she developed a chest infection/pneumonia do you think?
These can take hold quickly in people with underlying chronic chest problems.
Sad

Yes she has pneumonia as well we found out today. It has all come on very fast. I think she feels so awful she has given up tbh.

Well pneumonia is reversible, with antibiotics and intense physio. So there is a chance, plus they would not admit to ICU unless there was a chance of recovery.

Keep your chin up love. x

Yes, she was living with it nanny, fairly well in fact. Which is why this has taken us by surprise. I know the condition has these acute episodes...just shocked at how fast and severe it is.

My grandfather had this for a few years, he came back from an acute episode more than once being treated with antibiotics, oxygen and on one occasion a ventilator - each time the consultants had prepared us for the worse, I hope that there's still some hope in your case.

Any news?

She had a quiet night apparently (shes sedated and ventilated now) but no real improvement. I guess that if nothing else that does at least mean the decline has halted tho. Im waiting for news. Im at home with DCs (and a cold come to that) so can't get over to the hospital. I suspect the next 24 hours will be crucial in deciding if she'll get over this or not. Its horrible waiting around for news isn't it?
