Has anyone's dd or ds had this. think this is what my ds 10 month old has. Has been out of sorts all week with runny nose and keeps putting fingers into mouth. At first I thought teething but it seemed to be more than that and I thought maybe he had a sore throat, tho impossible to tell. Tonight both cheeks very red, one in particular, almost looks like a scald and completely covers whole cheek, rash on body - little pink rash, runny nose, has been generally out of sorts for a few days. Doesnt really seem to have fever but a bit hot. Will see what he's like in the morning. Sad His nursery said that theyve had an outbreak of hand foot and mouth but I think they might have diagnosed it wrong if initial symptoms are similar.

Yes, my DS2 (2yrs old) had this. His symptoms sound the same as your lo. He was never really ill from it, just a bit under the weather. His cheeks would flare up for a few days, then calm down for a couple of days and then the redness would come back. This lasted for a few weeks and doctor said nothing to do but let it run its course. Hope he's feeling better in he morning

My DD had this when she was 4. The rash lasted for ages, although didn't bother her in the slightest. It was most noticeable on her upper arms because the edge of it was very lacey - a characteristic sign. It would also come and go with the heat (she had it in the summer and we were living in a hot place at the time).

My dd1 had this when i was pg with dd1, if you have been in contact with anyone pg under 20weeks you need to let them know so they can have their blood checked for antibodies, most people are immune but its worth checking.

my 7 yr old has it at the minute - symptoms as described by other posts but most important to stay away from pg women or anyone who is immunosuppressed - eg blood disorders, transplant patients etc - my hushand is a doctor and has been banned from certain patients for 2 weeks - sadly not sent home himself though!
