Go and buy Allen Carr's easy way to stop smoking. Even if you've stopped it really will help. You're doing the best thing and if chocolate is what you need to get through it, then eat chocolate.

I empathise. A tip my midwife gave me was to brush my teeth when I felt a craving, or breathe very slowly and controlled in through nose and out through mouth. It did help a bit. I also found sucking lollies helped as I guess it was something to do with my hands as well. Good luckX

lollipops! They give you somethign to suck and to do with your hands. I bought a huge bag, but never even got through the whole lot in the end. Not very healthy, but they work. Smile

Arent there patches you can sniff to take away cravings? Vanilla or chocolate I seem to remember.

jayjaybaby - it really is a myth about the destressing. Especially if you have kids. I found I was LESS stressed after giving up as I didn't have cravings to deal with or fittign fags into a hectic day when the kids are demanding attention and all I wanted to do is sit and smoke.

i used to drink a glass of water.

Apparently the true craving for nicotine/cigarette only lasts about 10 seconds.

So, if you can drink a glass of water and then go do something that doesnt normally involve the habit of sparking up (alot of cigarette cravings i found were because i would "do x at 10am then have a ciggy" then "do y at lunchtime whilst having a ciggy" etc etc). So do something you dont normally do.

HTH

If smoking was such a big part of your life then you will certainly dream about it. It doesnt really mean anything - its just memories etc.

I was still dreaming for years after i gave up about smoking or having had a cigarette (and often knowing in my dream that i didnt smoke anymore).

I also, to help me when i had a craving, had a YUK jar.

A YUK jar was the contents of a dirty ashtray, chucked in a jar and topped up with some water and lid tightly screwed back on. Everytime i felt like having a cigarette i unscrewed the jar and the smell was enough to put me off. Bleugh!
