Tilted Uterus after having DS - V. confused!

Went for my first smear today since having DS (10 months). Nurse had real problems doing it and eventually had to sit on a cusion. She said my uterus was now tilted and that happens to every woman who has a baby. But, as I'm thinking about trying for another baby soon, I looked it up on the web and it said that most uterus's go back to normal.

Can anyone set me straight on this? I don't think its a major problem but it can be linked to fertitlity issues, prem labour & breech babies etc - so I'd like to know for sure.

Feel like my body has been wrecked by having DS - all though he's worth it!!!

Hi leonsmum, I was told the exact same thing by my gp at my postnatal checkup after dd, she is now aged 7 and i have had 2 pregnancys since then with no trouble conceiving at all.

I wouldn't worry about it hun, think its just one of those things and what you read on the web about it going back to normal is probably right. It makes you realise what a battering your body takes during pregnancy and childbirth though!!

I had this with my first smear after having DS -what made it worse was I knew the nurse doing the smear (had no idea beforehand that she even worked there!). She had to get me to lie with my hands under my bottom to lift myself up and then, eventually, on my side.

I don't recall her saying anything about the reasons why it was tilted or if it goes back to normal though (mind you, I was so keen to get out of there that I probably was out the door before she had chance to say anything!)

I have this too and am currently ttc, but my GP said it doesn't affect fertility...

Thanks for your replies everyone,

Spoke to my GP and she was v. reassuring. She says that it doesn't effect anything and she'd actually be really surprised if I hadn't always had it, but it hadn't been noticed.

Think its a physcological thing actaully. My sons delivery was a v. scarey, high-intervention, forceps one complete with episotomy (which became infected- yuck) and looking back, it's no wonder I'm worried about being a bit 'battered' down there!

First exam after giving birth probably didn't help with the pain!.
