Ds has had this for the last week and is really poorly with it.He's lost so much weight that his clothes are just hanging off him and I can even see his ribsSad.All he has eaten since friday is a slice of dry toast and a yogurt. We've seen the emergency doctor and our gp who advised keeping him hydrated(which is really difficult)and giving him diluted soya milk.He hadn't had anything for nearly 2 days as he can't keep anything down.I tried him with banana this morning and he ate most of it,followed by a 8oz bottle of soya formula about an hour later. He didn't bring any up again, which was great. He had a nap for a couple of hours, then I thought I'd give him another bottle. He drunk the lot, then the whole lot came up again including the bananaSad.Does anyone know how long this is likely to last, please? I'm now wondering if I should've laid off that 2nd bottle til tonight, but was so happy he had something this morning that stayed down, that I thought he'd be ok with another one.Really don't know what to do for the best-he's starving hungry, has no energy and just wants to sleep all the time.
Apparently, there's loads of this doing the rounds at the moment,so wondered if anyone's got any advice, pleaseSmile.

TIA.

I really feel for you as DD2 had a nasty bug that lasted a few days, and it was awful.

Its good that he kept the banana down for that long, and I would try him again with one later.

When did you see the emergency doctor? It might be worth taking him back to your GP incase he gets dehydrated.

Hope hes better soon.

ThanksSmile.
He saw the emergency doctor Sunday evening and she gave him Dioralyte which I'm having to syringe into his mouth as he won't drink it otherwise. He saw our GP on Tuesday evening, who suggested the soya milk and also said to get as much fluids down him as poss and even suggested Ribena,as he'd probably like the taste. He drank 20 oz's of squash yesterday but has only had 2oz's today-he keeps pushing it away and shaking his head.He has also has 16oz's of soya milk today(although only bottle has stayed down)so far.Didn't know if it was better to give dry toast / banana or another bottle later on tonight(about 5ish).If he brings up anymore,I'm going to take him back to our GP tomorrow and see what he suggests. He hasn't even smiled for the last few daysSad.

Sorry Chapsmum-x posted!
My GP said soya milk was easier on his tummy than giving him normal formula.
Ds is 9 months old btw.I thought I'd try banana seeing as it might give him a little bit of energy, and I know he really likes him.He also had really bad nappies at the weekend and banana always makes him constipated,so thought it would help him.

If they are being sick the advice is to avoid dairy, but I've never been a big fan of soy milk, personally it makes me feel sick!
You could mix dioralyte half strenght with ribenna, the most imporant thing is that he keeps drinking. If he is old enough to appreciate this make up loads of bottles then leave them every where! just let him help himself (and encourage hime to drink)
I would try dry toast before a bannana.
bananas are good if he has started to keep stuff down, but essentially if they have low salt levels in there blood and they eat something like a bannana, which has a lot of natural 'salts' in it, their we bodies find it difficult to absorb and it can make them even more sick. I would stick to toast and really simple food and let the dioralyte rehydrate him. Good idea to see your gp tomorrow if you are still worried.

Thanks for thatSmile.
Think I'll try a bottle later on tonight and see if he keeps that down, especially as I need to get more fluids into him.
