DD (3.5) trapped her little finger in my bi-fold wardrobe doors about 3 weeks ago. It was quite a squash and the nail turned black. DD has just run to me in the kitchen, complete nail in hand, pretty hysterical about it.

The nail bed itself looks ok, no signs of laceration etc, just smooth pink new-looking skin and DD didn't seem to be in pain, she was just shocked that she had no nail anymore (obv she didn't realise it could happen).

Will the nail grow back ? How long will it take ?

TIA Smile

im a beautician and from what i was taught at college it should grow back ok as long as the actual matrix ( bit below the cuticle wasnt damaged) it will take about 3 months but could be quicker in children just make sure she has plenty of calcium in her diet even if its a bit damaged if you can get her used to manicures it will help a lot
