I heard today that a boy at our school has just spent 4 days in IC with epiglottis, a rare throat infection which can cause suffocation. He is now fine, but I understand a poor Yr9 girl in Sevenoaks (about 25 miles from here) died last week from it. isn't that what HIB vaccine is designed for ? Is it known if they had had it.

the link that you downloaded is really informative. My ds has had croup quite a few times, I never have looked to see if he is swallowing normally, and have never even heard of this infection. Hope your little ones stay safe.
