Dental Phobia - proud of myself

Ages ago on MN (Sept/Oct?) there was a discussion about dental phobia and I said I was putting off making an appointment but at the same time was trying to encourage someone else with a phobia that they would be ok at their visit the next day - well, I finally got round to making the appointment today as I was so nearby the surgery I couldn't find an excuse not to.
I was also nervous that I might have been taken off the list for not going in time (NHS dentist, a rarity around here), but it was ok. I have to wait ages for appointment but I don't care, I'm just proud to have made one. Every time it is a massive struggle to overcome my nerves!

It is a big thing for me - I couldn't face going for 7 or so years but with wanting to get pregnant, I felt I had to face up to it. Now I'm trying to keep on top of it so I don't pass on my fears to DD. It has taken me months to get around to it but at least it's not years!
It's so bad I can't talk about it in RL, hardly at all to DH even, so it's good to be able to do so on MN.

I had to write a letter! The handwriting was shaky and I cried over it too. I wonder if they have it on record They wrote a really nice letter back saying to phone and make an appointment to be checked over and they would do things at my pace etc.
I guess they are used to it Orinoco, as so many people have the fear!
