How can i help dd3 get better? (norovirus?)

she came down with a sudden high temp on tuesday, and has been spiking on and off since then. but she is also vomiting and runny nose and now has the runs. i heard her popping off earlier, turned round and there was a river of poo pouring out the back of her nappy. i have switched to disposables, and have been cleaning a bit more vigerously. but dont know quite what to do with dd3. she has been having calpol/neurofen, and is off her food. she is having regular breastfeeds and her fontanelle is fine, but each time i feed her its going through her so quickly.

how's your dd2 feeling today?
my only advice on this is to make sure she gets lots of fluids which she is doing and to keep an eye out for signs of dehydration which again you are doing. my dd always sleeps lots when she's ill which seems to help her.

that was for misdee because her dd2 was very cold last night. hope your dd2 isn't coming down with something else lockets, she's probably still just getting over the illness.

Coca cola is good for dehydration. It was recommeneded to me by a doctor. [I know its full of additives etc but it might be taken with less fuss then other things and I think sometimes its better to be hydrated with cola, then dehydrated w/o]

"fluid replacement by diarrhoea - either a glass of boiled water, (cooled), with a pinch of salt and four teaspoons of sugar to rehydrate, or Coca-Cola is as good and tastes better. If it persists for 48 hours, please make an appointment"

Keep breastfeeding her as often as poss and you could perhaps try some probiotics and dioralyte in between. It will stop eventualy but 5 dyas is quite a long time and if it is no better tomorrow you might want to see the gp in case she ahs somethign bacterial rather than viral.

DS has been a bit poorly, not too bad though, although he is still off his food a bit I think actually, hasn't eaten even half any meal time since he was sick and is still sleeping lots. Generally happy though, and I thought all better, but had a messy nappy earlier. Think it is generally going around. His friend who was poorly too is in hospital atm, this was his second bug in a week, which is why I think he took it so bad. Had convulsions.

Coco cola, IIRC used to have an extract similar to cocaine which had the effect of settling the stomach. For some reason the same ingrediant isn't in coke anymore so it dosen't have quite the same effect .

i'm going to call out of hours for advise.

Ignore my info about CocaCola. Apparently it makes it worse.

Sorry all. I took it as green as it was by a doctor
