BH, we are just getting it here, there were 16 children off in my dt's class on Friday, today they are coughing, one has been sick, and they have temps. Feeling quite relaxed about it, as they all seem to be getting it at once instead of one after the other which is a right PITA

mine have it too. ds2 and 3. ds2 been hallucinating with high temp for two nights.

janeite · 05/02/2006 14:14

I had it last week - about 6 days before I felt totally recovered. My Janeite and DD1 seem to be starting with it today - dd2 fine so far.

Its been on the news, schools in the west midlands are shutting because of it. Apparently children get rings around their eyes like dark circles

this is the first time i have left my bedroom since friday night, i havent been able to get about

that sounds like influenza, tbh - the joint pain, esp

Report
mykidsmum · 05/02/2006 14:21

It is influenza strain b apparently, a combination of common flu symptoms with sickness and coughing. Apparently the reason it is so contagious is because it doesn't strike very often so very few of us have any immunity to it.

Report
Blossomhill · 05/02/2006 14:25

I just cannot believe how nasty it is.

i have it, i have been ill with it for a week and a half now, i think it got me as my immunity was low after pneumonia, had awful high temp and flu like symptoms for 3 days, then worse cold ive ever had, agonising sore throat, muscle and joint pains, still feel dreadful, there seems to be no let up at all.

mummytosteven · 05/02/2006 14:28

think this has travelled up to Liverpool as well - cold/throat/joint pains

dd, ds and dh were really ill 2 weekends ago and are not 'right' yet. dd (4) actually asked to go to bed at about 5pm yesterday! They've had the temperatures, aches and sickness. I've spent most of my nights with one child or the other (completely ignoring poor dh) and they have been in a really bad way, moaning with the discomfort.

It's right about the dark circles, that's exactly what my kids look like.

my sister is taking the middle 2 kids to school for me as i cant walk properly atm, hopefully i will be up to collecting them

my son was ill last saturday. he is going to school on monday. hes still got snotty nose and hacking cough. but the headaches, high temp and lethargy are gone. so it took just over a week.

now my other son is not well, he had high temp this morning. pale, lethargic, bad headaches.

my daughter said she has a sore throat, my dh said he's feeling "iffy"

if i get it, i will die on my arse i never come down with mild anything - am surprised am not ill yet. i was very very ill the year before last and hope that provides some immunity.

my dd1 had it a few weeks ago (temp of 105)

I had a mild temp but then sore throat, now hacking cough and terrible sinuses

Report
expatinscotland · 05/02/2006 14:49

It's a strain b type influenza that affects mainly children.

I've had it for just over a week now and am a bit reassured by this thread as I was beginning to think that my immune system had just packed up after DD and that I'd never be well again! This gives me hope that I may get some energy back soon.

We've had it for about 3 weeks. All slightly differently - ds and I have the cough,ds had really high temperatures, dd was sick and has the cough. Just can't wait to be well again!
