What age does pubic hair 'normally' start to appear?
Ds 11yrs, has none, dd1 8yrs, has some hair down there! None that I've noticed under her arms. She has been early with other signs of puberty, BO from 2yrs and a little acne and greasy hair from 5/6yrs. Is 8 normal for pubic hair in girls these days?! She seems so young.

DD1 had greasy hair/spots from about 6yrs, had monthly stomach pains for the last 12 months and not going to say about biody hair, she would be mortified

dd had none at age 11.5yrs.

Fast forward a year and she has a whole hedgerow!! And periods. Zits so bad she needs prescription meds. And attitude - although tbh that started waaay before the pubes.

Does she read this then HenniPenni?
So in your experienced opinion is 8 young for pubes?

I'm sure I had a few by about age 9. Wasn't happy at the time. Periods started at 11 to give you a timescale to compare with.

Think onset of puberty in boys is generally slightly later.

Often catch her looking over my shoulder and she knows my name. I don't think 8 years is to young from my experiences.

My periods started at 8, am sure there was something wrong with me though, but mum was too embarrssed to take me to the doctors... I used to have to miss swimming at school and all the other girls laughed at me!

I think some hair is normalish at 8 these days...

All very reasuring, thankyou.
I was later though, pubic hair - 10/11 years, periods 12/13 yrs old. Thought daughters followed their mothers... not this one obviously! Been told by GP that periods will not start until breasts have started to bud. Can I trust this advice do you think?!

My mum, pointed mine (all 3 of them!) out to me (as if I hadn't noticed!) and got all excited. I was mortified, so I'm being careful not to point them out.

DS1 (11 nearly 12) started getting spots about a month ago. I pointed out that he needed to be very careful about taking care of his skin as he was clearly entering puberty (he knows what this is). He thought about it and then collapsed in a huddle on the floor wailing "But I don't want puberty!"

Poor lad.
