Dh had a vasectomy today, under general anesthetic. Apparantly, soon after they had given the anesthetic to him his blood pressure plummeted and he passed out. They managed to stablise him and the operation went ahead, but they had to keep him in a lot longer than usual, as after the op in recovery his blood pressure kept dropping and he was passing out all the time!! He is home now, but I am really worried about him. Will he be OK now? Is this a 'not unusual' reaction. He has had some sugary tea, and eaten an omelette, and seems to have bucked up a little bit. I would be grateful for any comments/advice anyone has. BTW if I don't answer back straight away I am not being rude, I just want to keep a close eye on him.

Sounds like a fairly 'normal reaction'. Opiate based anasthetics tend to lower the bloodpressure, and sometimes people are more sensitive thatn others. The anasthetics they use for these types of ops are very short acting. And will prob be out his system by tommorrow though he may still feel nausious and grogy.
You should be wairy of delayed allergic reactions, but sounds as if your doing a great job!
