I have pain in some of my top teeth ( hard to say which one ) which comes and goes .
Agony when I come into the warm after being out this cold weather !
Dentist has told me it's my sinuses and told me to use antibiotic nose drops .
But I've never thought of self as having sinus problems ,not prone to colds or anything .
Could my sinuses really cause this pain ?
( off to swallow ibroprufen )

I've had sinusitis and would have quite happily ripped all my teeth out and poured boiling water into both ears because it would have hurt less.

Sinus pain can cause terrible toothache, I suffer from sinusitus but tend to not get the toothache. I do lots of steaming with olbas oil.
The drops shrink the linings of you nose I think so you get less mucus, not entirely sure.
I have used sudafed when I really have to, as it is cold I tend to keep my face wrapped up in a scarf as well.

yes they can make your teeth sore. Theres really not much between your roots of your top teeth and sinus. Agree with adversecamber. Steaming and sudafed. good luck

But if it were sinus related wouldn't I feel congested ,stuffed up ?
My left nostril ( side affected ) is a little stuffy but I wouldn't have noticed were I not thinking about the tooth pain .
And wouldn't I have pain elsewhere ,not just my tooth ?
Oh dear I always find it hard to locate pains in my body ,maybe my left cheekbone area does feel funny ,but that could be from the tooth ?

if you have had an X Ray the dentist would probably have seen the sinus congestion I think

I'm prone to sinus pain with no obvious congestion. If I get an episode, it causes my teeth to be very sensitive and at times painful. The cold weather is a killer during these times.

Mmmm thing is - he didn't x ray ,tapped teeth ,asked questions .
This is second time I've been and mentioned it ,first time while having other work done .
But of course by time I got appointment it wasn't hurting anyway .
I absolutely hate going to dentist and force myself so want to believe him ...but am a pessimist and fear the worst !

I also get the sinus pain affecting teeth, it is very common, I would trust him I think, its something he will be very familiar with.

I agre with everyone else

What are the antibiotic drops you speak off?
Mine are terrible at the moment, have just started a thread about them.
Every time I get a cold, my sinuses join in on the fun. I've had more trips to the dentist because of this than actual fillings (thankfully); my dentist has told me that it is very common to feel uncongested but still have the pain.

Sorry ,not antbiotic at all
ephidrine or something like that .
Am in agony though - change of air temperature ( coming into warm from cold ) sets it off the most .
Ibroprufen not helping .
Short of staying permanently outside anyone know what might help ?
Maybe I should try ice pack ?

My DH regularly get sinusitis... During his last bout he told me he wanted to pull out his teeth just to relieve some of the pressure. Sudafed works well but often he requires antibiotics.

Saudades does nothing for me, sinutab sometimes takes the edge off. Warm steamy bath or washing hair over the bath often loosens it up....mine runs orange watery liquid, anyone else's?

The ends of the nerves from some of the teeth are in the sinuses that are in the cheeks. So, if the sinuses are infected and the membranes are swollen they can cause pressure on these nerves and cause toothache.

GP yesterday as day after I finished antibiotics I was suddenly in agony .
This lasted 24 hours and then ,though cheek swollen agony much abated .
GP thinks it's not sinuses though obviously wasn't sure and has prescribed more antibiotics and steriod nasal spray .
I simply can't understand the way the symptoms change ,pain on face and cheek bones ( like electric shock ) ,pain absolutely centred on a tooth ( more near front than back ) ,pain all along top teeth on the affected side ,now very sore and I suspect swollen gums - high up ,near cheek not near tooth .
Cheek swollen near cheek bone .
Off to dentist shortly ,feel rather pathetically unnerved by not understanding what's going on ,and worm down with pain and pain killers .
( found co codamol + ibroprufen best )
