3month old DS has very bad cold and sore throat - HELP

DS is 3 and a half months and for the past week has had a miserable cold. Today this was joined by a really hoarse throat which I can only imagine is as sore as it sounds . He hasn't got a temp but is crying a lot - making his hoarse throat even worse. His cot has been been raised at one end and we have tried steaming him. We gave him calpol earlier and will prob give him some more before bed (i know we shouldn't give it as he hasn't got a temp but I don't know what else to do to ease his pain). Does anyone know what we could do to help the poor mite? Can't get to the doc's until Monday.
