spots on my tongue

last night I noticed that i had a spot or 2 on my tongue but didn't think much of it, apart from it being flipping painful against my teeth!

Suddenly late this afternoon I noticed the pain returning and now see that i have 3 or 4 spots. They are faily white in colour and very sore.
I cant think of anything that I ate yesterday evening that I have also eaten this afternoon that might have triggered them.

Any ideas what has caused them and perhaps more importantly, any ideas how to get rid of them asap as they are horribly uncomfortable against my teeth and the roof of my mouth?

TIA

Mouth ulcers? You don't need to have eaten anything to trigger them, they just spring up - often when you're under the weather or stressed out, but equally often for no reason at all.

Rinstead pastilles can help, or a bit of Bonjela, if you've got any in.

I have it too mckenzie all over the tongue.
I can only eat food that's lukewarm and has no acidity. (I can just about get down wine though. )
'Orrible isn't it?
I also had it at the end of last summer and it went on for about two weeks.

Oh Cod - that paste for ulcers is awful - tastes & feels like glue - Im sure it works though if you're brave enough

my DS was prescribed it & cried when I put it on his tongue so I tried it to show it was ok & I nearly cried

I would get your teeth checked out if still have them in a weeks time - sounds odd but maybe gum infection (speaking from experience)

that wouldn't surprise me Pruni. I'm a bit run down just now.
If it is Herpetic, I guess gargling with salt water won't help, or will it?

I have it too and have had for 6 weeks. Things seemed to start calming down with Vit B supplement. Waiting for blood test results as no treatments have worked.

ALexW - 6 weeks!! this is horrible. I want it to be gone by tomorrow. I'm spending half my day sticking my tongue out of my mouth to try and lessen the discomfort anf the other half of the day just moaning about it.
It is worth trying tog et a doctors appt due you think or will it just need to run its course?

Went to docs, was given some antibiotic/anti fungal pastilles. They were as much use as air. Wine seems to be numbing it at the mo, but probably the worst thing to take cos of the sugar (likewise any yeast products like bread)...oh well, another glas...

Mine's still really sore. It took me about an hour to eat a small portion of very mild, lukewarm curry. PITA isn't it?

just been out for friend's birthday and we went to a Tapas bar. I've eaten icecream and drunk cold water all night. It was all I could manage. I'm sure my friends all thought I was complaining about nothing but it is so sore. Sorry girls but I'm glad you have it too as at least we can sympathise with each other.

Lockets had something like this a while back - a virus. She is around so maybe she'll spot this.
