Just heard that my very close friend is in hospital.

She apparently has very severe stomach pains. She is normally totally stoical and brave so must be quite bad. She was screaming with the pain apparently.

They couldnt work out what it was, she has been kept in tonight on a drip and morphine to help the pain ready for scans etc tomorrow

anyone have any idea what it might be?

I always worry about her as she is very overworked! She works nights but doesnt get a chance to sleep. ~Looks after her 12 month old almost on her own, has a spotless house, parties quite hard etc

Hope she is ok

poor thing. Only things I can think of are appendix, ectopic pg, ovarian cyst, but doubtless there are other causes. hope she feels better soon.

could be gallstones? a friend of mine was in absolute agony with that.
simple keyhole surgery to remove them though

Could be any number of things. Dh had massive pain when he had pancreatitis. But the same can be said for other things, like an ulcer.

Does she drink a lot? (not judgemental but you said she parties a lot) Pancreatitis can be cause by too much alcohol . It wasn't is dh's case, but it is in most.

Hope she is OK too, but this could be any number of things, so try not to worry as yet

suppose its stabbing in the dark even trying to guess at this stage, just feel a bit helpless.

She has in the past drank alot but since she got pregnant drank nothing and then back to normal level of drinking. Well, normal for our group - binge drinking I suppose nothing for ages then LOTS on nights out!!!

Kidney stone? I had a suspected one of these earlier in the year and it is absolutely agony.

I had gallstones when I was 21 and I was told that alcohol is a big big contributory factor (was a student then ). The first occasion I had them it was like the stomach ache from hell, called the ambulance and TBH I thought my time was up!!

Ended up having simple keyhole surgery and the stones were huge (still have them to this day - it was the first thing I asked for when I came round

Maybe it could be an ulcer? I had one before I was 20! If she's under a lot of stress and binge drinking (I think the two caused mine) it could possibly be that?

Whatever it is, I hope she's well again soon
