Ds been poorly for a week now, went to see dr on Thurs last week as he had v sore throat & fever & glands. Dr said virus (no surprise as she always says that). Said to come back next day for check up. Bought him back & overnight he exploded in a rash - surnburn like, red, hot to touch on thighs, bum, bits and tum. Dr forst said def viral. Tested his wee and protien++ so off to hospital for further inverstigation. Tookhis blood and swab. Son is getting worse and worse. Told allergic reaction to virus etc uticaria rash (my arse - sorry). Anyway discahrged. Following day back again as ds worse still. Same reply except he has a problem with is blood as a enzyme is higher than it should be and he needs further tests.
Got phone call today , ds needs to go back in as needs anti biotics as it is bacterial streptococcus infection and also needs more blood taking (poor love). Have just done investigating online as ds is now much improved but still contagious as not treated with anti biotics yet and still sore throuat and milder rash. THing is looking online at Scarlet Fever and the symptoms are identical! Thing is i asked registrar if thins was a possibility and she poo pooed me. Also ds now has rash in genitals and around mouth, she just ignored it. Dont get me wrong she was polite but made me feel stupid.
Am so cross for ds being in so much discomfort and that is was treated as a hives rash!
Am sat here fuming wanting to do something about it. Doent know what to do.
