Hi all

Normally my asthma is so well controlled infact after my hysterectomy in June I had my 1st attack in 2.5 yrs.

Had my usual flu jag on Thursday all went well, DH decorating on sat only real change at the moment. Sunday felt a bit wheezy but nothing to concerning however by sunday night I was struggling really tight chest and ended up being sick probably from the amount of my inhaler i had used.

So had an attack middle of the night sun/mon and another yesterday norning. Went to docs who gave me oral steroids to take and anti b's just incase had anothe mild one late afternoon then felt ok.

Was driving hubby and friend to work this morning and had to pull over as i had that awful feeling of tightness and walla full blown attack. I sat a bit and continued todrive on after teling hubby i was ok to drive and nearly bloody crashed the car, hubby's workmate grabbed the wheel.

So now hubby aint at work and i feel shite not knowing if this is normal or what the cause is.

Any advice

keep taking the antibiotics (I had killer chest infection that they treated as asthma for 2 weeks )

keep going to doctor and getting your chest checked - are you spitting up anythign?

have the steroids made you feel better?

They say steroids work fast but when I had them it took a couple of days for them to kick in, so hopefully yours will do the same soon just try and take it easy, often easier said than done i know

Thanks for your replies. I am not coughing anything up which i suppose is a good sign, just wish my chest would ease up a bit though

Hope you're feeling better. DS1 hasn't had an asthma attack in 10 months and had quite a bad bout on Sunday night too - do you think the weather change is responsible? they said at school that all the asthmatics were wheezy at th mo. Also, you mentioned you had an attack after an operation - DS1 had gas for anaesthesia two weeks ago and I wonder if it sensitized the airways.

Just a thought but you said DH was decorating, was he painting? Paint fumes are notorius (sp) and certainly set me off

yip hubby was painting but when he glosses he has all windows and doors open it's like living in the north pole

On sat though doors etc were closed as kids were going to bed as it was the hall we have no windows there so I believe this could be the trigger and the weather deffo aint helping.

seeing asthma nurse tomorrow at 11.30 so hope it's good news. I don't sound as wheezy but still struggling if that makes sense

It could be the weather too JB. Fog and damp conditions can be a contributing factor.

seen asthma nurse today who has said this could be related to HRT

my hormones are all over the place ad this could be underlying for my asthma

hormones are the source of all evil are the going to try and sort it out for you?

Report

Not sure really, I know my HRT was increased a month or two ago and things have changed to my asthma. They say it takes a while for the hormones to settle so will be monitored.

She was shocked and looked sorry for me when I said I was 30. But I just laugh as having the hysterectomy was the best thing ever for me, I am a new woman- apart from asthma

Change in weather could definately affect you. Going from cold outside and then into warm house used to trigger my asthma quite a lot.

Hope you feel better soon. I have asthma too and it's horrible when you think your breathing is under control and you've been good and taken all your medication regularly, and then suddenly it get worse.
